Purple Puffin brings you the world of Japanese traditions with our range of Samurai and Geisha figurines. For many hundreds of years, Geisha have followed traditional ways. Wearing their Kimonos and the white make up that gives them their most recognisable appearance. They have over those years become a very popular culture. In honour of these ladies, we now stock some very distinctive Geisha figurines to offer you a view into this wonderful world. The word "samurai" is derived from the archaic Japanese verb "samorau," changed to "saburau," meaning "to serve"; thus, a "samurai" is a servant, i.e. the servant of a lord. In essence the Samurai were empowered by the Japenese Emperors to protect them against uprisings. The Samurai have long been synomous with the Samurai Sword called the Katana. Our range of figurines present the Samurai in different ways and the World Displays provide an ideal base upon which to place these excellent figures.
