Despite many cases in history books, in Ancient Egypt The Kings of Egypt were not called Pharaohs. The word Pharoahs were used by the Greeks, and commonly used to refer to the ancient Kings of Egypt today. It is also known that several ancient historians have recorded legendary and poweful Pharaohs who became Egyptian gods. The most famous Egyptian pharaoh we know today is King Tutankhamun, the boy king who died in his late teens and remained at rest in Egypt's Valley of Kings for over 3,300 years until his tomb was discovered by British Egyptologist Howard Carter in November 1922. King Tutankhamun, popularly known as King Tut laid in a coffin made of 110 kilograms of solid gold. Ancient Egypt was also during the times when Hatshepsut the "female pharaoh" lived, Akhenaten the "heretic" king, Ramesses II The Great, Queen Cleopatra VII. Besides King Tutankhamun, Queen Nefertiti, the beautiful wife of Akhenaten and mother to his six daughters was one of the most famous Egyptian Queen that ever lived in Ancient Egypt. She is often portrayed wearing a unique style of crown, and officiating in religious ceremonies alongside the king. These Egyptian Pharoahs are on display today in museums across the world but Purple Puffin now offers you a chance to have your very own Egyptian statues and figurines.
